Dating schrade uncle henry knives

The First Year Listed column shows the year that a particular model first appeared in a Schrade catalog. Details on some of the knives are scarce, especially some of the ones that do not appear in any catalogs. There are some strange things that came out of the factory, such as, the 97OT with Uncle Henry Staglon handles and a single clip blade.

Some of these are referred to as End of Days knives that were made after the factory closed and before the bankruptcy sale. For the most part these knives are not listed. Perhaps at some future date when I have assembled a more complete list I can add these too. This book is an excellent resource for any serious Schrade Collector. This concern for precision is not reflected in the later catalogs. The LB2 did not appear in any regular Schrade line catalog.

The UH was the first introduced and each knife was given an individual serial number, from there the UH line increased, the catalogue lists four UH knives and says that each knife has its own serial number, ect. Reading from the catalogues each UH knife produced up untill and including , was given its own serial number; after that no mention of serial numbers is made. My LB7 has a number J but I believe they all did. Can anyone confirm the serial numbering dating?

As regards the LB7, I am told they went from 0 to 99,, then they started back at 0 with an "A" prefix and when up through A Then it was B, C, D etc. They again started over with the prefix of AB going through the alphabet, then on to AC, etc. I am not sure where they ended, but I think they got at least as far as LM before they dropped the numbering system. If I am wrong, I do hope someone will correct me. If I am am right, the large number of the LB7s made would account for the quantity of them still on the market today, 8 years after Schrade closed their doors.
